As bloggers face beatings, torture and jail for criticizing governments, a UN panel criticized companies that are 'passing ethical responsibility' by making agreements with countries that suppress free speech.
World Press Freedom Day was celebrated Thursday at UN World Headquarters in New York City with a panel discussion on bloggers, also known as 'citizen journalists,' and how they are changing the face of democracy worldwide. The panelists spoke out against governments that are trying to clamp down on speech by jailing 'cyber-dissidents.'
